Afghanistan were bundled out for 218 runs by an in-form Indian bowling attack in Chennai. For the visitors, skipper Hashmatullah Shahidi scored 102 runs in 131 balls. His maiden century included 13 fours and one six.

With the ball, Indian pacer Prasidh Krishna was the star, taking his first five-fer in ODIs. Krishna ran through the Afghanistan top order, taking four early wickets. He eventually dismissed Shahidi in the death overs to complete his five-wicket haul.
