In the second T20I match against Team India, Australia skipper Mitchell Marsh has won the toss and elected to bowl first at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG).
The "Men in Blue" have decided to go with the unchanged team for the Melbourne clash. On the other hand, the Aussies have made one change where Josh Philippe makes way for Matthew Short.
It will be interesting to see who takes the edge in the five-match T20I series between India and Australia. The first clash unfortunately,y ended with no result due to persistent rain.
Additionally, in the previous clash, the Indian skipper Suryakumar Yadav seemed to have found himself among runs, but was unable to fully showcase his skills as the match was abandoned.
The visitors will also heavily rely on their opening duo of Abhishek Sharma and Shubman Gill to provide them with a strong start.
The series will also be a test for Sanju Samson to prove his worth in India's shortest format team.
After winning the toss, Marsh is hopeful that the pitch doesn't change for the 40 overs. He also feels that the pacer may get some help in the early phase of the match.
"We’ll bowl first. A few reasons — this is a historic venue, the atmosphere is electric, and we expect a great contest. The pitch looks solid and shouldn’t change much over the 40 overs. There might be a bit of help early for the seamers. From the last game, there wasn’t much to take away with the rain interruption, but we’re looking forward to this one. We’ve made one change — Matthew Short comes in for Josh Philippe," he said.
For the Indian skipper, the toss made no difference as he stated that the side was looking to bat first.
"Not really, it’s fine as long as we get to do what we want. We were looking to bat first anyway. The surface looks good, and we’ve seen the numbers — teams batting first have won slightly more, so happy with that. That’s the brand of cricket we want to play. Everyone knows their role and is executing it really well. Abhishek sets the tone with Shubman at the top, and I look to carry it through in the middle. Shubman is excellent at rotating strike and finding boundaries; batting with him always makes things easier. No changes for us — same playing XI," said the 35-year-old cricketer.
