In the ongoing second Test match against England, Team India has reached the score of 177 runs for the loss of three wickets at the stroke of lunch on day four.
Skipper Shubman Gill and vice-captain Rishabh Pant are still unbeaten on the scores of 24 and 41 runs, respectively.
Gill has faced 41 balls and smashed three boundaries, and Pant has been going all guns blazing against the English pacers, as the left-hander has registered five boundaries and two maximums in 35 balls.
Pant came out in the 30th over and went ballistic from the get-go. He smashed Josh Tongue for a four and a six over mid-off to make his intentions clear before executing a falling pick-up shot off Ben Stokes that went all the way.
So far, England's Josh Tongue has tasted success in the match. The pacer has claimed two wickets for 50 runs in nine overs. Brydon Carse is another bowler who has bagged one wicket for 56 runs in 12 overs.
India added 113 runs in the first session and lost a couple of wickets in the form of overnight batters.
Resuming day four, KL Rahul and Karun Nair looked steady at the crease. Later, Rahul was dismissed on the score of 55 runs off 84 deliveries, including 10 boundaries. On the other hand, Nair returned to the pavilion after scoring 26 runs in 46 balls, which was laced with five boundaries.
India suffered the first setback on the day when Nair edged one behind off Brydon Carse. Rahul completed his half-century but lost his middle stump when Josh Tongue angled one in.
Chris Woakes, Ben Stokes and Shoaib Bashir are yet to claim any wickets. Woakes has completed 12 overs and conceded 39 runs, whereas Stokes has bowled just two overs and leaked 12 runs. Completing three overs, Bashir, too, has conceded 17 runs.
Earlier in the match, Yashasvi Jaiswal had played a quick-fire knock of 28 runs. His knock came in 22 balls, including six boundaries.
Brief scores: India 587 & 177/3 in 38 overs (KL Rahul 55, Shubman Gill 24 not out, Rishabh Pant 41 not out; Josh Tongue 2/46) lead England 407 by 357 runs.
