Team India's captain Shubman Gill smashed 161 runs off 162 deliveries, including 13 boundaries and eight maximums. Additionally, with the help of Ravindra Jadeja, KL Rahul and Rishabh Pant's knock, India posted a target of 608 runs against England.

In India's second innings, Yashasvi Jaiswal delivered a fiery start as the left-hander accumulated 28 runs. His knock came in 22 deliveries and was laced with six boundaries.
KL Rahul, who departed early in the first innings, delivered a crucial knock in the second essay. Facing 84 balls, he garnered 55 runs, with the help of 10 boundaries. Karun Nair, who seemed to be well settled at the crease, fell short of putting on a big score. The right-hander returned to the pavilion after scoring 26 runs off 46 deliveries, including five boundaries.
Gill delivered another iconic knock on the back of 269 runs in the first essay. Shouldering him was India's vice-captain Pant. The 27-year-old played a knock of 65 runs in 58 deliveries, including eight boundaries and three maximums.
Premier all-rounder Jadeja stayed unbeaten in the visitors' second innings of the second Test match. Facing 118 balls, the left-hander scored 69 runs, including five boundaries and a maximum. Later, Washington Sundar scored 12 runs in seven balls, with the help of a boundary and a maximum.
Nitish Kumar Reddy yet again failed to impress and capitalise on the opportunity.
From England's dugout, Josh Tongue and Shoaib Bashir emerged to be the most effective bowlers. The duo claimed two wickets each. Completing 15 overs, Tongue bagged two wickets by conceding 93 runs, whereas Bashir registered two wickets by leaking 119 runs in 26 overs. Brydon Carse and Joe Root, too, registered one wicket each to their names. Carse bowled 12 overs and claimed one wicket for 56 runs, and on the other hand, Root was smashed for 65 runs in nine overs.
Chris Woakes and skipper Ben Stokes went wicketless in India's second innings.
