<a href="https://www.mid-day.com/sports/cricket/article/rohit-not-a-flop-23640348" rel="nofollow">Rohit Sharma</a> scored a magnificent century against England in the series decider at Lord's. The former Indian captain looked back to his fluent best as he scored his maiden ton at the iconic venue.
Coming into the match on the back of retirement rumours, Rohit smashed 11 fours and four sixes on his way to a memorable hundred.
Rohit was joined by <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/sports/cricket/article/virat-kohli-honours-west-indies-icon-sir-garfield-sobers-following-his-passing-23640371" rel="nofollow">Virat Kohli</a> at the crease when he reached the milestone and let out a big roar as the crowd applauded this historic innings.
Earlier, England scored a mammoth 387 runs for the loss of 3 wickets against India in the deciding ODI at Lord's.
England started off well and scored 58 runs for the loss of no wickets. Ben Duckett scored a magnificent 141 runs, including 18 fours and one six. Meanwhile, his opening partner Jacob Bethell also scored an impressive 91 runs in 93 balls, including 11 fours and two sixes.
Joe Root's unbeaten 74 runs and Jos Buttler's 13-ball 41 took England to 387 runs at the end of their innings. &nbsp; For India, Gurnoor Brar was the most expensive bowler, conceding 97 runs in his 10 overs. Prasidh Krishna took 2 wickets for 69 runs.
Earlier, after losing the toss, <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/sports/cricket/article/skipper-gill-rues-middle-order-collapse-after-loss-23640345" rel="nofollow">Indian captain Shubman Gill</a> was happy to bowl first and chase down the total. He confirmed that Jasprit Bumrah was out of the match due to a knee injury.
"We were bowling first. We have got three changes. Boom misses out, he's unavailable due to some knee injury. And so is Washington Sundar. Dube also misses out. KL comes in, Prince Yadav comes in, and Arshdeep comes back into the team. [On selecting Arshdeep Singh] We're not the one who relies on stats so much. We think he's a great bowler, and we were looking for four seamers on this ground. We have seen in the middle overs, spinners don't really offer much as compared to the fast bowlers. [On what India need to improve from the second ODI] I think we were in a great position up until the 25 overs of the match, and then we lost too many wickets in the middle overs, end of the middle overs." Gill said.
