In the fourth Test match against England, Team India posted a total of 174 runs for the loss of two wickets at stumps on day 4.
Team India skipper Shubman Gill and KL Rahul stayed unbeaten at the crease. Facing 210 balls, Rahul scored an unbeaten 87 runs, including eight boundaries. On the other hand, Gill faced 167 deliveries and accumulated 78 runs, with the help of 10 boundaries.
Earlier in India's second innings, the side lost the early wickets of opening batsman Yashasvi Jaiswal and Sai Sudharsan. Jaiswal returned to the pavilion on a duck after facing four balls, whereas Sudharsan departed on the very first ball he faced.
Chris Woakes helped England get the early strikes. Completing 15 overs, the pacer claimed two wickets by conceding 48 runs. Lead pacer Jofra Archer, Brydon Carse, Liam Dawson, and Joe Root failed to claim any wickets.
Bowling 11 overs, Archer was smashed for 40 runs. Carse leaked 29 runs in 10 overs, followed by Dawson's spell of 22 overs, in which he conceded 36 runs. On the other hand, Root bowled just five overs and leaked 17 runs.
Earlier in the day, England were bowled out for 669 runs in their first innings.
England skipper Ben Stokes, who was struggling to convert his good starts into big scores, tasted success in Manchester.
Facing 198 deliveries, Stokes played a knock of 141 runs, which was laced with 11 boundaries and three maximums. Earlier in the innings, Zak Crawley and Ben Duckett delivered a strong start to the side.
Facing 113 balls, Crawley smashed 84 runs, including 13 boundaries and a maximum. Duckett, on the other hand, missed his century by six runs. He accumulated 94 runs in 100 balls, with the help of 13 boundaries.
Ollie Pope, as well, garnered 71 runs off 128 balls, including seven boundaries. Brydon Carse gave finishing touches to England's innings. He registered 47 runs after facing 54 balls, and also smashed three boundaries and two maximums. Joe Root played a stunning knock of 150 runs, which came in 248 balls, including 14 boundaries.
Liam Dawson, who came in as a replacement, played a knock of 26 runs in 65 balls, including three boundaries. Harry Brook had a poor outing, as he managed to score just three runs after playing 12 balls. Jamie Smith, Chris Woakes, and Jofra Archer registered the scores of nine, four and an unbeaten two runs, respectively.
Ravindra Jadeja was the most successful bowler for India. Bowling 37.1 overs, he claimed four wickets and conceded 143 runs. Lead pacer Jasprit Bumrah and Washington Sundar bagged two wickets each. Bumrah was smashed for 112 runs in 33 overs, whereas Sundar leaked 107 runs after bowling 28 overs.
Anshul Kamboj and Mohammed Siraj, too, registered one wicket each to their names. Kamboj bowled 18 overs and leaked 89 runs. On the other hand, completing his spell of 30 overs, Siraj was smashed for 140 runs.
Shardul Thakur went wicketless in England's first innings. He bowled just 11 overs, conceding 55 runs.
