As Team India roll their sleeves to clash against England in the fourth of the five-match Test series, the visitors' skipper will be eyeing an important milestone.
Skipper Shubman Gill will be eyeing to achieve the feat of completing 6000 runs in the international circuit. So far, the right-hander has amassed 5,853 runs with 17 centuries and 25 half-centuries. The 25-year-old is shy of 107 runs from achieving the feat.
With the fourth Test match about to kick off at the Old Trafford Ground in Manchester, Gill has displayed exceptional form with the willow. So far in six innings of the ongoing series, he has scored 607 runs, including three centuries. The Manchester clash will commence at 3.30 pm.
In 35 Tests so far, he has shown tons of promise and inconsistency alike, scoring 2,500 runs at an average of 41.66, with eight centuries and seven fifties in 65 innings, with a best score of 269.
In 55 ODIs, Gill has smashed 2,775 runs at an average of 59.04, striking at 99.56, with eight centuries and 15 fifties. His best score is 208. This is undoubtedly his best and most consistent format.
In 21 T20Is, he has made 578 runs at an average of 30.42, with a century and three half-centuries to his name. His strike rate in this format is 139.27.
The Punjab-born cricketer will also look to surpass Virat Kohli's record for the player to score the most runs in the SENA series. In 2014 tour of Australia, Kohli registered a tally of 692 runs, including four tons and a half-century.
Currently, Gill requires just 86 runs to surpass his idol, Kohli.
