After an IPL 2025 campaign that never really took off, India wicket-keeper batter Rishabh Pant appears to have regained form just in time. India are busy preparing for the Tendulkar-Anderson Trophy series, where Shubman Gill will mark the beginning of a new Test era as he leads the side for the first time since the retirements of both Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma. Ahead of the series, India players hit the ground running in bid to battle it out against hosts England.

Meanwhile, a video of players was posted on the Instagram handle of the Indian cricket team with several players, including Gill, Pant, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, and Ravindra Jadeja sweating it out in the nets. Pant’s relentless attack mode saw him sending the ball soaring into the stands, hitting the roof of the stadium.

Head coach Gautam Gambhir and his staff were also seen talking to players at the session. Apart from a few fielding drills led by fielding coach T Dilip, Gill and Pant were among the few who practiced batting in the nets, while Siraj and Bumrah were seen throwing down balls.

As per a video from ESPNCricinfo on Instagram, a massive part of this practice session was a one-on-one battle between Bumrah and skipper Gill. Bumrah looked at his unplayable best against Gill, who had no choice to either struggle or to just leave the ball altogether.

The five-test tour of England, starting June 20 at Leeds and lasting until August 2025, will be keenly watched. With senior stars Rohit and Kohli having retired from the game's longest format, the onus lies on the Gill-led new-look Indian side to prove itself away from home in tough English conditions.

The series will be held from June to August 2025, with matches scheduled at Headingley in Leeds, Edgbaston in Birmingham, Lord's and The Oval in London, and Old Trafford in Manchester.

India's Test squad for England series: Shubman Gill (c), Rishabh Pant (vc), Yashasvi Jaiswal, KL Rahul, Sai Sudharsan, Abhimanyu Easwaran, Karun Nair, Nitish Reddy, Ravindra Jadeja, Dhruv Jurel, Washington Sundar, Shardul Thakur, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, Prasidh Krishna, Akash Deep, Arshdeep Singh, Kuldeep Yadav.
