India’s KS Bharat

With three wicketkeepers (KL Rahul, KS Bharat and Dhruv Jurel)  announced in the Indian team for the first two of the five Tests against the touring England team, the question is, who will keep wickets in the opening Test starting on Thursday in Hyderabad. It is learnt that the big gloves will be worn by Bharat, who has played all his five Tests against the Australians (four at home and the World Test Championship final in London in 2023).

Bharat, 30, will relish the opportunity of making a successful  comeback to the playing XI. Since the series is expected to witness turning tracks, the team think-tank do not want to play a makeshift wicketkeeper (Rahul). Rahul  was India’s stumper during the last Test series in South Africa, is expected to bat at No. 3 against England against whom he has scored three hundreds in 12 Tests.
