Earlier, having been put to bat first, Team India's wicketkeeper-batsman Sanju Samson scored four runs in 10 balls, whereas fellow opening batsman Abhishek Sharma managed to score just one run in two balls.
Ishan Kishan delivered a crucial knock of 61 runs off 32 balls, laced with five boundaries and the same number of maximums. He also smashed two boundaries and a maximum. Bhuvneshwar Kumar registered six runs in four balls, including a boundary. Prince Yadav and Arshdeep Singh stayed unbeaten. Yadav faced one ball and did not score any runs, whereas Arshdeep scored one run in one ball. With this, the "Men in Blue" posted a total of 191 runs for the loss of eight wickets in 20 overs.
New Zealand's Adam Milne returned with the figures of four wickets for 19 runs in four overs. Nathan Smith and Blair Tickner also bagged two wickets each.
