The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced India's squad for the upcoming five-match T20I series against South Africa.

Suryakumar Yadav will be leading the Indian pack, and star all-rounder Hardik Pandya will also feature in the contest. Earlier, he missed out on the away T20I series against Australia.

This will be his first time since India's Super Four match against Sri Lanka during the Asia Cup 2025 in September. The 32-year-old cricketer missed the title clash of the Asia Cup 2025 against Pakistan and the Australia white-ball tour due to injury.

Recently, Pandya proved his fitness as he made his appearance for Baroda in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.

Rinku Singh, who was part of the squad for Australia's T20Is, has been dropped from the side for the upcoming T20I series against South Africa. Additionally, Shubman Gill has been named as vice-captain for the contest. Earlier, during the two-match Test series, he sustained a neck injury, following which he was provided rest for the 50-over series.

Currently, the "Men in Blue" under the captaincy of KL Rahul are leading the three-match ODI series by 1-0 against South Africa.

The five-match T20I series between Team India and South Africa will begin from December 9. The "Men in Blue" will play the first T20I match against the Proteas on December 9 in Cuttack. Mullanpur will host the second T20I between India and South Africa on December 11. The third T20I will be played at Dharamsala on December 14, followed by the fourth on December 17 in Lucknow.

Ahmedabad will host the fifth and final match of the series on December 19. The contest will also serve as the preparatory series for both teams ahead of the T20 World Cup 2026.

India squad for T20I series against South Africa: Suryakumar Yadav (captain), Shubman Gill (vice-captain), Abhishek Sharma, Tilak Varma, Hardik Pandya, Shivam Dube, Axar Patel, Jitesh Sharma (wicketkeeper), Sanju Samson (wicketkeeper), Jasprit Bumrah, Varun Chakaravarthy, Arshdeep Singh, Kuldeep Yadav, Harshit Rana, Washington Sundar.
