Indian all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy pulled off an absolutely stunning catch to dismiss West Indies' Tagenarine Chanderpaul on Day 3 of the ongoing first Test between the two sides at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Saturday, October 4.

Chanderpaul tried to play the swivel pull off a delivery around the wicket from Mohammed Siraj. While the length was short enough to be pulled, Chanderpaul couldn't quite keep his shot on the ground. Nitish Kumar Reddy swiftly moved to his left from short square leg and timed his dive to perfection, thereby getting both hands to the ball and completing a sensational catch.

Here's a video of Nitish Kumar Reddy's stunning catch to dismiss Tagenarine Chanderpaul:

Speaking about the game, India are in a commanding position to call the shots in the Ahmedabad Test. After the bowlers managed to bundle out the visitors for just 162 in the first innings, the Indian batters piled on more misery as the likes of KL Rahul, Dhruv Jurel, and Ravindra Jadeja smashed hundreds. The hosts then decided to declare on their overnight score of 448/5 with a lead of 286 runs.Β

West Indies would have hoped for a better showing in their second innings compared to their first. However, a sensational catch from Nitish Kumar Reddy to send back Tagenarine Chanderpaul must have dented the West Indies' morale. Ravindra Jadeja then came into the attack and joined the party as John Campbell, the other West Indies opener, soon followed as he was caught by Sai Sudharsan at short leg.Β

The likes of Brandon King and Alick Athanaze are looking to consolidate and form a partnership. However, India's bowling has been supremely relentless, and they will back themselves to create further inroads in this West Indies batting line-up. It will take a gargantuan effort from the Windies to overhaul the 286-run deficit and avoid an innings defeat, especially given how they batted in their first innings.
