Team India is all set to clash against the West Indies for a two-match Test series. Ahead of the contest, the Indian skipper Shubman Gill has heaped praise on premier all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja by saying he has been in tremendous form.
Speaking about Jadeja, Gill said that the side has always been aware that the 36-year-old's presence in the Indian team has been a difficult aspect for the opponents.
"I think in the past couple of years, the kind of form that he has shown, we always knew...playing Jaddu bhai in India is always a difficult aspect (for the opposition). The kind of form he has shown with the bat is the reason I think he has become our number 6 batter in Test matches," he told the media.
Further speaking more on Jadeja, the captain said that over the years, the left-hander has helped India to come out of difficult situations.
"I think over the past two years, he has been in tremendous form. He has gotten us out of situations where we were in a bit of difficulty, and someone like him who has had so much experience under his belt and to be able to be so consistent at this level for such a long time is just tremendous," Gill added.
The first of the two Test matches between India and the West Indies is scheduled to kick start on October 2 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
Additionally, as Rishabh Pant is still recovering from the injury that he sustained during the previous England series, Jadeja has been appointed as Gill's deputy for the upcoming Test contest against the Caribbean.
