Sandeep Patil, whose four-year stint as chief selector began in 2012, insisted yesterday that Team India is doing well in all three formats of the game because of a few bold decisions taken by his committees.
"We had taken some tough and bold decisions looking at the future of Indian cricket. I would say we are very happy at the end of our term. The Indian team's performance in all three formats is very good and we hope that they will perform better in future," said Patil.

However, the former flamboyant batsman was ruffled when a question pertaining Sachin Tendulkar's retirement was raised. It was during his tenure that the batting maestro decided to quit Test cricket in 2013.
"All things can't be disclosed. There are certain things which are meant to be confidential and should remain so. Certain discussions taking place between BCCI and selectors are not to be revealed. We are answerable to BCCI," remarked Patil. He stressed on how tough it is to be a national selector.
"The sad thing about being a selector is that you end up losing some of your friends. But that is part and parcel of the game," he said.
The 60-year-old was thankful to the board for not interfering in the selectors' job. "In our four-year term not a single BCCI official of any zone&hellip; not a single representative of BCCI contacted me or my colleagues with any recommendation," he concluded.
