The Indian government has reformed a policy to deal with Pakistan in sports events and declared that the athletes and teams will be allowed to participate in the international sporting events that also have teams or players from Pakistan.
However, India will refrain from participating in competitions in Pakistan and will not engage in any of the bilateral events.
Along with this, the Centre also declared that the visa policy will be "simplified" for sportspersons, team officials, technical personnel, and office-bearers of International Sports Governing Bodies for a "maximum" period of five years, a source in the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports (MYAS) told PTI on Thursday.

The development on the matter emerged due to the upcoming Asia Cup 2025 clash between Suryakumar Yadav-led Team India and Pakistan. The high-voltage clash is scheduled to take place on September 14.
Following the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir, fans across social media platforms have been opposing the clash with the neighbouring country.
India responded with Operation Sindoor on May 7 to avenge the attack, which killed 26 people, and dismantle the terror infrastructure across the Line of Control and deeper inside Pakistan. In the aftermath of India's response, the strained relationship between the two neighbouring nations further slumped.
While taking into account India's rise as a credible venue to host top-tier international events, individual athletes and teams from the nations will be able to compete against Pakistan in multinational tournaments hosted by India.
The Asia Cup 2025 tournament is scheduled to kick off between Afghanistan and Hong Kong on September 9. Team India's management has appointed Suryakumar Yadav as the skipper, while Shubman Gill has been named as his deputy.
The "Men in Blue" will begin their Asia Cup 2025 campaign against the UAE on September 10. The most electrifying match between arch-rivals, India and Pakistan, is scheduled to be played on September 14. Team India will then lock horns against Oman to conclude their group stage matches on September 19.
In case India manages to seal a place in the Super Four stage, there is a possibility of another India-Pakistan game taking place in the event.
