Sunrisers Hyderabad's Ishan Kishan endured a forgettable outing behind the stumps during their IPL 2025 clash against Lucknow Super Giants at the Ekana Stadium on Monday. A string of costly errors from the wicketkeeper-batter significantly derailed SRH's bowling plans and allowed the hosts to post an imposing total of 205 for seven in their allotted 20 overs.
Kishan was guilty of dropping two crucial chances in the powerplay, both off the bowling of debutant Harsh Dubey, whose left-arm orthodox spin troubled the batters early on. In the third over, Kishan missed an under-edge off Mitchell Marsh, denying Dubey what could have been a breakthrough in the first delivery of his IPL career. Just an over later, another opportunity went begging when Kishan failed to gather the ball cleanly down the leg side, missing the chance to stump out Aiden Markram.

Fans were quick to criticise Kishan, with many taking aim at what they called '100 per cent attitude, zero per cent skills', mirroring the frustration felt on the field, as SRH’s hopes of controlling the match slipped away due to avoidable mistakes.

Once seen as a spark plug for SRH, Kishan’s form has plummeted sharply. After scoring a sensational century in his debut match for the franchise earlier this season, the left-hander has failed to make a meaningful impact either with the bat or with the gloves. In a move that seemed designed to boost his confidence post-IPL restart, the team entrusted him with wicketkeeping duties. However, that decision backfired as his string of errors visibly dented the morale of SRH’s bowling attack.
Among those most affected was young spinner Harsh Dubey, whose figures of 4-0-44-1 were not reflective of the pressure he built early on. The solitary wicket in his spell came in the 11th over, when Marsh edged a delivery to point, where Eshan Malinga executed a brilliant diving catch to finally end the opener’s carnage.
