Punjab Kings are set to clash against the in-form Mumbai Indians in their IPL 2025 encounter at Jaipur's Sawai Mansingh Stadium on Monday.
All eyes will be on Punjab’s Shashank Singh, who has emerged as one of the most consistent performers for the side this season. With an impressive strike rate of 195 against pace and 203 against spin, he has become a key figure in their batting lineup.
Having featured in all 13 matches for the Punjab-based franchise, Shashank has accumulated 284 runs at an average of 56.80 and a strike rate of 149.47. He also has two half-centuries to his name, with a best score of 59 in IPL 2025.
Known for his ability to strike cleanly in the death overs, Shashank will, however, be tested against Mumbai's potent death bowling attack. The Hardik Pandya-led MI have taken 33 wickets in the death overs this season, the most by any team in that phase.
Between overs 16 and 20, MI also lead in key metrics: the best average (15.48), best strike rate (9.6), and the lowest boundary percentage (19.49). Their economy rate in this period stands at 9.64, second only to KKR’s 9.24.
The outcome of this high-stakes match will be crucial in determining both teams’ positions in the playoffs. Punjab currently sits on 17 points from 13 matches, having won eight games and lost four (one match likely being washed out or no result). Meanwhile, the 'Paltan' is placed fourth on the points table with 16 points.
Both teams have a chance to overtake Gujarat Titans (GT) and secure a top-two finish, which would earn them two opportunities to reach the IPL final.
