Royal Challengers Bengaluru have roped in Tim Seifert as a replacement for Jacob Bethell for the remainder of the ongoing IPL 2025. Bethell will return to England to fulfill his national duties. Seifert will be available for selection starting May 24.

Currently, Seifert is featuring in the Pakistan Super League (PSL), and his availability for IPL 2025 depends on how far his team progresses in the tournament. Representing Karachi Kings, Seifert's side is set to face Lahore Qalandars on Thursday night.

If the Kings secure a spot in the PSL final, the right-hander will only be available to join RCB on May 26. RCB are scheduled to play their remaining two IPL 2025 group stage matches against Sunrisers Hyderabad and Lucknow Super Giants.

Seifert has previously represented Delhi Capitals and Kolkata Knight Riders in 2022 and 2021, respectively. So far in the ongoing PSL, the 30-year-old has scored 226 runs in nine matches at a strike rate of 145.80.

Bethell, who himself was a replacement for Phil Salt, made an impact with a 55-run knock against Chennai Super Kings earlier in the league. He is set to return to England after Friday’s match against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), which has been relocated to Lucknow due to poor weather conditions in Bengaluru.

RCB’s overseas roster has also been impacted by uncertainty surrounding Australian pacer Josh Hazlewood, who is currently recovering from a shoulder injury at Cricket Australia’s High-Performance Centre in Brisbane. The team is still in talks with Cricket Australia regarding his availability, but no confirmation has been provided yet.

In addition, RCB will miss the services of South African pacer Lungi Ngidi ahead of the IPL 2025 playoffs. He will return to South Africa to participate in the World Test Championship final. Zimbabwe’s Blessing Muzarabani has been named as his replacement for the remainder of the tournament.

So far in IPL 2025, the Rajat Patidar-led RCB has secured eight wins in 11 group stage matches. Having already qualified for the playoffs, they will next face Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Ekana Cricket Stadium B Ground.
