Chennai Super Kings suffered a major setback in their push for an IPL 2026 playoff spot after all-rounder Jamie Overton returned to England due to a thigh injury.

CSK have not specified the duration of Overton's absence or confirmed whether he will miss the remainder of the season, although it remains unlikely that he will return for their final three league matches. With only three league matches left, it appears unlikely that Overton will return before the end of the season. CSK are next scheduled to face Lucknow Super Giants on Friday.
