In the <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/sports/cricket/article/ipl-2026-ruturaj-gaikwad-wins-toss-elects-to-bowl-first-against-gujarat-titans-23631574" rel="nofollow">IPL 2026</a> match against Chennai Super Kings (CSK), Gujarat Titans (GT) have scored 111 runs without losing any wickets in 10 overs at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
After being put in to bat, GT captain Shubman Gill has reached his half-century and is going strong against the Chennai bowlers. Fellow opener Sai Sudharsan is also playing a sensible knock at the other end.
Chennai's Mukesh Choudhary, Spencer Johnson, Gurjapneet Singh, Noor Ahmad, Shivam Dube, and Anshul Kamboj are yet to claim their first wicket.
Earlier, <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/sports/cricket/article/ipl-2026-csk-skipper-ruturaj-gaikwad-speaks-about-five-wicket-loss-against-srh-23631078" rel="nofollow">Chennai's skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad</a> won the toss and elected to bowl against Gujarat.
CSK's Akeal Hosein missed out on the clash, paving the way for Gurjapneet Singh. Also, Prashant Veer made way for Matt Short.
Meanwhile, GT's Prasidh Krishna came in place of Sai Kishore.
After winning the toss, <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/sports/cricket/article/ipl-2026-ms-dhoni-returns-to-ranchi-after-a-thumb-injury-23631506" rel="nofollow">CSK</a>'s skipper Gaikwad said, "We're gonna bowl first. Obviously there is some pace and bounce in the pitch and we want to exploit it early on. So that's the only reason we are bowling first. (What is the team combination?) We've got a couple of changes. Obviously, according to the conditions, Akeal misses out unfortunately. And Gurjapneet comes in. And we got Matt Short playing in place of Prashant Veer."
When asked how the side has regrouped for this important clash, Gaikwad said, "Well, it is about keeping it simple and trusting the process. I think even the last game we gave a good fight and obviously didn't get the result that we wanted, but it is all about coming up and turning up and getting that W at the end of the day. But obviously, there are a lot of things that unfold and we want to make sure that we keep it really simple and turn it up today".
