Chasing 196 runs to win, CSK started off strongly with Ruturaj Gaikwad scoring a couple of early boundaries. Sanju Samson failed to score big as he was dismissed for just 7 runs. Ayush Mhatre came in at number 3 and started in his typical attacking form.
Mhatre raced to 30 runs in 13 balls. His innings included 5 fours and 1 six as he took on Praful Hinge. However, the 18-year-old pulled his hamstring while completing a quick run and soon departed after being caught by Klassen of Nitish Kumar Reddy's bowling.
Soon, Ruturaj Gaikwad departed too, leaving CSK in trouble. Gaikwad departed for 19 runs in 13 balls. Nitish Reddy was the star for SRH, taking 2 wickets in the powerplay.

Matthew Short scored 34 runs in 30 balls as he anchored the innings, but it was not enough to get CSK over the line.
For SRH, Eshan Malinga was the best bowler as he took 3/29. Nitish Kumar Reddy chipped in with two wickets to put the hosts in a strong position.
<h2>Sunrisers Hyderabad scored 194 in the first innings</h2>
Earlier, the Sunrisers Hyderabad scored a competitive 194 runs for the loss of 9 wickets at the end of their innings. SRH started with a bang as their openers gave them a fast start, but couldn't build on that momentum later in the innings. Abhishek Sharma scored a blistering 59 runs in just 22 balls. However, the hosts failed to have a big end to the innings and could only score 195. However, the score proved to be enough as SRH defended it easily.
For CSK, Jamie Overton was the best bowler, taking 3 wickets for 37 runs. Mukesh Choudhary chipped in with 2 wickets too, but <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/sports/cricket/article/ipl-2026-ruturaj-gaikwad-optimistic-of-delivering-big-knock-despite-poor-run-23625831" rel="nofollow">CSK</a> failed to win and remained at the number 8 spot.
