Brisbane: The first four-day match between India &lsquo;A&rsquo; and Australia A hangs in the balance after the visiting bowlers led by Varun Aaron (3-41) bowled out Australia &lsquo;A&rsquo; for 228, giving them a lead of two runs after the first innings at the Allan Border Field.&nbsp;

Resuming the day at 25-0 yesterday, Australia &lsquo;A&rsquo; openers CT Bancroff (10) and Joe Burns (78) were tested by Shardul Thakur and Aaron. The Indian pace duo bowled probing spells, picking up a wicket each to reduce Australia to 39-2. Thakur was particularly impressive with his eight-over spell. Lack of a front-line third seamer hurt India as the spin duo of Jayant Yadav and Shahbaz Nadeem, along with medium pace of Hardik Pandya failed to control the flow of runs. Burns and Peter Handcomb (87) added 118 to put Australia in a commanding position at 157-2.
But the lunch break seemed to rejuvenate India as the spinners found their groove and Pandya bent his back on a docile pitch. The all-rounder got rid of Burns (78) by squaring him up and having him caught brilliantly by Karun Nair at fourth slip. Pandya then had Marcus Stoinis spoon a catch to wide mid-on to bring India right back into the contest.
Meanwhile, the change of ends helped Yadav (3-44) as he started to get the ball to drift and dip with the cross breeze. With the Indian bowlers applying the pressure, Handscomb fell to some brilliant fielding to be run out for a composed 87.
The wicket opened the flood gates, as Aaron with his pace and Yadav with his guile picked up the last five wickets for just 41 runs. At stumps, India had extended their lead to 46 with the loss of Akhil Herwadkar (23) and Faiz Fazal (6).
