Melbourne: A fuming Chris Gayle has blasted&nbsp;current and former cricketers for not standing by him when he&nbsp;was roundly criticised for flirting with a TV presenter during&nbsp;an interview at the Big Bash League.

The marauding batsman had drawn flak when he asked&nbsp;channel 10 presenter Mel McLaughlin out for drinks during an&nbsp;interview.

The furore had blown up to such an extent that former&nbsp;Australia skipper Ian Chappell called for a ban against him.
Responding to Gayle&rsquo;s interview with McLaughlin, former England captain and television personality Andrew Flintoff tweeted: &ldquo;Big fan of @henrygayle but made himself look a bit of a chop there.&rdquo;
Ex-Australia opener Chris Rogers also criticised Gayle and said he was a bad influence on young players during their time together at the Sydney Thunder, while another retired Aussie, Shane Watson, said that sort of inappropriate behaviour was expected when it came to Gayle.
And while Gayle did not refer to any&nbsp;of them by name, there was little doubt about who his comments were directed at &ndash;&nbsp;after slamming the cricket community.
The West Indian, after playing his last BBL match, posted&nbsp;an expletive-ridden rant on his instagram account saying it&nbsp;was he who made Leagues, including the Big Bash League, and&nbsp;questioned his fellow players' timid approach.

Gayle went out of BBL on a high with a record-equalling&nbsp;12-ball 50 even as his side, Melbourne Renegades could not&nbsp;make it to the summit clash. It is widely believed that he may&nbsp;not be invited to return to BBL.
"Ppl think I may have played my last innings in Aus but&nbsp;my memory with the fans will live on forever!! I build leagues&nbsp;around the world and Big Bash is one of them ??," the&nbsp;explosive batsman wrote.&nbsp;

He also took a swipe at cricketers, who feel he is a bad&nbsp;influence on children.

Gayle later posted on Twitter: &ldquo;I wish I could throw a party at my expense for the fans and smash a few (beers) bfore (sic) leave Oz.&rdquo;
