Bengaluru: Team India cricketer Amit Mishra&nbsp;was on Tuesday summoned by the city police after he was booked for&nbsp;allegedly physically assaulting and abusing a woman in his&nbsp;hotel room here last month, police said.
"We have shot off a notice, summoning India cricketer&nbsp;Amit Mishra for allegedly sexually assaulting a woman in the&nbsp;city last month on the basis of the complaint Vandana filed on September 27," Deputy Commissioner of Police, Central,&nbsp;Sandeep Patil told PTI here.

"We have shot off a notice, summoning India cricketer Amit&nbsp;Mishra for allegedly physically assaulting and physically&nbsp;abusing a woman in his hotel room last month, Deputy&nbsp;Commissioner of Police, Central, Sandeep Patil told reporters&nbsp;here.

Mishra, who is in the current ODI squad which will play&nbsp;the fourth match against South Africa in Chennai on Thursday,&nbsp;was not available for comment. BCCI also refused to comment on&nbsp;the issue.
The spin bowler is also part of the Indian Test squad for&nbsp;first two Tests against visiting South Africa.
Police have asked Mishra to appear before them in a week's&nbsp;time, Patil said adding strict action would be taken if he&nbsp;failed to comply with the summons.&nbsp;
DCP Patil said the woman in her complaint had claimed that&nbsp;she was in acquaintance with Mishra for the past three years&nbsp;and the alleged incident took place in a hotel room the&nbsp;cricketer was staying when he came to the city along with the&nbsp;Indian team for a training camp last month.
"The complainant went to his room in Mishra's absence. At&nbsp;that time, Mishra also came there and (they) had a heated&nbsp;argument. Ultimately, she alleged that Mishra assaulted her&nbsp;and physically abused her," Patil added.
On a complaint from the woman, Mishra had been booked&nbsp;under Indian Penal Code sections 354 (assault or criminal&nbsp;force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty) and 328&nbsp;(causing hurt with intent to commit an offence), he said.&nbsp;
According to the complaint, Mishra abused and assaulted Vandana with a kettle at a five-star hotel on September 25.
"We have also sent a copy of the notice to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) in Mumbai, as Mishra was attending a preparation camp the board held in the city for the Indian team," Patil said. As Vandana had known Mishra over the last three years, she went to meet him at the hotel where he was staying during the camp.
