Former Argentina soccer star Diego Maradona has told his son-in-law Sergio Aguero that he is proud of his performance at new club Manchester City after moving from Atletico Madrid. Maradona had been concerned for some time that Aguero was wasting his talent with Atletico Madrid. So he was delighted when Aguero made his 35-million-pound switch to Manchester in the summer. The Argy hitman has already notched six Premier League goals, including a hat trick in Saturday's 3-0 win over Wigan. Tomorrow night, City make their Champions League debut against Maradona's old club Napoli. And Maradona believes Roberto Mancini's side can enjoy the kind of trophy-laden era he had in the late 80s with the Serie A club. Maradona, now coach of Dubai-based Al Wasl, revealed to the Sun: "I told Aguero he needed a team that would support him. He needed one that meant he can play in the Champions League, can play in very important championships." u00a0 "People at Atletico Madrid said I was a fool but I told them this foolish person is not that much of a fool. Aguero is playing in a team at Manchester City where he is going to fight for everything," he added. u00a0 Despite forging a reputation as one of the hottest properties in Europe, Aguero did not enjoy much success with Atletico. They won the Europa League in 2010 and followed it with the UEFA Super Cup ufffd but Maradona felt his son-in-law was too good to stay at the Vicente Calderon. "Now Aguero is playing at a place he deserves," said Maradona.
