The Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) on Friday announced a one-time financial assistance of Rs 1 lakh to the widows of former Mumbai players, who are not covered under the BCCI pension scheme. The Ajinkya Naik-headed MCA also formally requested the BCCI to extend its pension coverage to widows of former domestic players.

“The decision was taken by the MCA [Apex] Council in recognition of the invaluable contributions made by past players who have served Mumbai cricket with distinction and dedication over the years. The funds for this assistance will be drawn from the proceeds received from exhibitors participating in the recently concluded Cric-Kit Fair,” a media release said.
