Modi defends Pawar family in IPL bid controversy

Suspended Indian Premier League Commissioner Lalit Modi today came out in defence of Sharad Pawar, saying the Agriculture Minister and his family had nothing to do with a failed bid for IPL's Pune franchise.
Suspended Indian Premier League Commissioner Lalit Modi today came out in defence of Sharad Pawar, saying the Agriculture Minister and his family had nothing to do with a failed bid for IPL's Pune franchise.
Managing Director of the Pune-based City Corporation -- in which Pawar and his family have 16 per cent shares -- Aniruddha Deshpande made an unsuccessful bid for the Pune franchise and Modi joined the minister in claiming that Deshpande made the bid in his individual capacity.
