MSSA, DSO to part ways this year

Last year, for the first time in the history of schools sports in the city, the District Sports Office (DSO) and the MSSA joined hands to conduct the U-14 and U-17 knock-out tournaments for boys and girls across 20 sporting disciplines. But, that's not going to be the case this year.

Listen to this article :

MSSA president Fr Jude Rodrigues said that though MSSA is more than happy to host the tournaments jointly, DSO doesn’t seem to be interested. “There are no such problems between us and the DSO. But they haven’t approached us to hold the tournaments jointly. So we are hosting the events separately.”

As a result, the children will have to compete separately in DSO-conducted tournaments, besides the regular MSSA events, in order to be eligible to play district, state and national level tournaments.

Confirming the development, DSO official Uday Pawar said, “Last year we did have some events together. But this year we do not wish to hold any events jointly. We will be only taking technical help from MSSA for holding DSO events.”u00a0
