Hosts Mumbai took off to a steady start against Saurashtra on the first day of the Ranji trophy match being played at the Bandra Kurla Complex.

Mumbai captain Wasim Jaffer (43 not out) and Rohit Sharma (10 not out) were on the crease building on the score to 118 after lunch.

Saurashtra's medium pace bowler, Jayesh Odedra claimed two wickets for 40 runs in his spell of 9 overs.
