India have begun their latest full tour of New Zealand in the same manner in which they did the last, six and a half years back, with victory in the T20I showdown. But they will be hoping the rest of the tour bears a different script, heading into the first of five ODIs at Eden Park on Wednesday.

On their last all-format tour here in early 2020, India swept the T20Is 5-0 before surrendering the ODI faceoff 0-3 and being beaten in the Tests 0-2. This time, in what is the longest tour by any country of New Zealand in terms of international matches (12), India have pocketed the shorter white-ball leg 3-2, but will have to give a far better account of themselves from a bowling perspective if they are to register their first 50-over series success here since
January 2019.
