As the wait for the <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/sports/cricket/article/odi-womens-world-cup-2025-skipper-harmanpreet-kaur-opens-up-on-team-india-bowling-attack-23596448" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">ODI Women's World Cup 2025</a> is finally over, the International Cricket Council (ICC) chairman, Jay Shah, said that this edition of the global showpiece will be the biggest and best for cricket fans.
Shah took to his official social media handle and shared a post stating the importance of women's cricket. "The growth of women's cricket is extremely important to the @ICC and this edition of the ICC Women's @cricketworldcup played across India and Sri Lanka promises to be the biggest and best yet. Good luck to everyone involved. #CWC25," the tweet read.

Earlier, Indian skipper <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/sports/cricket/article/odi-womens-world-cup-2025-harmanpreet-kaur-confident-about-team-india-heading-into-mega-event-23596086" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Harmanpreet Kaur</a> stated that nothing gets bigger than playing the marquee tournament at home and expressed hope that the Women in Blue would not disappoint the fans who have been waiting for them to lift a World Cup across both white-ball formats.
She also pointed out that this is her fifth ODI World Cup, and having it at home is really big, but the team does not want to put that pressure on themselves and just enjoys their game
 So far, the Indian women's <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/sports/cricket/article/australia-all-rounder-glenn-maxwell-ruled-out-of-new-zealand-series-with-wrist-fracture-23596483" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">cricket</a> team has not won an ODI World Cup title. They have managed to reach the finals in 2005 and 2017, and will be aiming to lift the title at the home event.
The first match of the ODI Women's World Cup 2025 is scheduled to be played between the Indian women's cricket team and the Sri Lankan women's team at the Assam Cricket Association Stadium in Guwahati.
The high-voltage cricket match between arch-rivals, India and <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/sports/cricket/article/asia-cup-2025-syed-kirmani-expresses-disappointment-on-india-not-accepting-trophy-from-mohsin-naqvi-23596488" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Pakistan</a>, is scheduled to be in action on October 5 at the R. Premadasa International Cricket Stadium in Colombo.
The final of the marquee event will be played on November 2 and the venue for the title clash is yet to be decided.

Team India's reserves: Tejal Hasabnis, Prema Rawat, Priya Mishra, Minnu Mani, Sayali Satghare.
