Ahead of the ODI Women's World Cup 2025, Team India has received a massive blow as pacer Arundhati Reddy was seen leaving the field on a wheelchair during the warm-up match against England.
She sustained an injury during her bowling against England. With this, her participation in the event is uncertain. The question is, in case the pacer is ruled out, will India be able to find a player to fill her shoes?
The pacer, who had earlier snapped the wicket of England opener Amy Jones, looked poised to take a return catch struck back at her by Heather Knight, but landed on her left leg awkwardly before falling to the ground.
Medical professionals rushed to the ground to provide assistance to Reddy, before the wheelchair was called.
In 11 ODIs since her debut last year, the right-arm pacer has taken 15 wickets at an average of 32.66, with best figures of 4/26. In her most recent bilateral outing against Australia, she took four wickets in two matches, including three wickets in Delhi. This year, she has taken seven wickets in six matches at an average of 41.85.
The ODI Women's World Cup 2025 will kick start on September 30 at the Assam Cricket Association Stadium in Guwahati. The first match will be played between the Indian and the Sri Lankan teams.
