<img class="left" src="http://images.mid-day.com/images/2017/nov/cup-aaa.jpg" alt="" />Right handed batsman Rusi Modi scored seven centuries in consecutive matches for Mumbai over the 1943-44 and 1944-45 Ranji Trophy seasons. This included five tons in consecutive innings. Modi was picked for India's tour of England in 1946 but could manage only one half century in five Test innings.

When Gundappa Viswanath walked in to play his final innings in first-class cricket for Karnataka in the 1987-88 Ranji Trophy semis against Mumbai at Wankhede Stadium, the entire Mumbai team stood on either side of the wicket to give him an emotional welcome. Vishy appreciated the gesture, but said in an interview to Sportsweek &amp; Lifestyle magazine that the reception put, "A lot of pressure on me. I could see that my leg wouldn't move." Viswanath was dismissed for 13 on February 13.
Padmakar Shivalkar, that great left-arm spinner, was recalled to the Mumbai Ranji Trophy team at the age of 48 for the 1987-88 Ranji Trophy pre-quarters against Karnataka after his splendid performances for Tatas in the Times Shield. Shivalkar had last represented Mumbai in the victorious 1980-81 season. In 1988, he sent back Gundappa Viswanath and Roger Binny and went on to the play the quarter-final against Delhi at the Kotla which was his last game in a Mumbai cap.
The Mumbai playing XI for their 1980-81 West Zone Ranji Trophy game against Baroda had three Parkars &ndash; Ramnath as well as brothers Ghulam and Zulfiqar and Mankad brothers, Ashok and Rahul.
