Sir Frank Mortimer Maglinne Worrell was born on thsi day back in 1924 in Barbados. He is sometimes referred to by his nickname of Tae. He was a West Indies cricketer and Jamaican senator. A stylish right-handed batsman and useful left-arm seam bowler, he became famous in the 1950s as the first black captain of the West Indies cricket team. Along with Everton Weekes and Clyde Walcott, he formed what was known as "The Three Ws" of the West Indian cricket. He was the first of the two batsmen to have been involved in two 500-run partnerships in first-class cricket, the latter being Ravi Jadeja.
He died on&nbsp;March 13, 1967, at Jamaica aged only 42 years.

England middle-order batsman Graham Paul Thorpe was born on thid day in 1969. He played for Surrey and England. A left-handed middle-order batsman and slip fielder, he appeared in exactly 100 Test matches.&nbsp;He showed what he was capable of in his very first Test as he scored a century on debut, against Australia at Trent Bridge in 1993.&nbsp;

England women's team won the World Cup for the first time since the inaugural tournament of 1973. In the final at Lord's, England registered a 67-run victory over New Zealand.
Birth of&nbsp;Zimbabwean all-rounder&nbsp;
Also born on day day in 1978 was attacking Zimbabwean all-rounder Andy Blignaut. Blignaut has to his credit the best figures by a Zimbabwean on Test debut -- 5 for 73 in Bulawayo in April 2001. He was also quite a handful a as lower-order batsman. His career though stalled in 2001-02 amid reports of disputes with administrators and fellow players. On his return, in 2002, he claimed 5 for 79 against Pakistan. His career suffered yet another setback when he joined 14 rebel players in the standoff with the Zimbabwe board in 2004, and was ultimately sacked.
India's first lethal pace bowler is born&nbsp;
Mohammad Nissar, India's first lethal pace bowler, was born on this day in 1910. Nissar could swing and cut the ball and also had genuine speed. Nissar's opening bowling partnership with Amar Singh was as legendary as it was successful. He was part of In India's maiden Test. Played at Lord's in 1932, Nissar had the Englishmen sweating after knocking over the stumps of their openers Percy Holmes and Herbert Sutcliffe. On that trip, Nissar grabbed 71 wickets at 18.09 to head the averages. Against the Australians on their tour of India in the winter of 1935, he took 32 wickets in four "Tests" at 13 runs apiece.

Born today in 1955 was former India opener Arun Lal. He played 16 Tests for India between 1982 and 1989. He was unfortunate to be around at a time when he was competing for a opening slot with Sunil Gavaskar with the likes of Kris Srikkanth, Anshuman Gaekwad and Ravi Shastri. Following Gavaskar's retirement, Lal made 11 successive Test appearances. After retirement, he became a television commentator.
Benaud magic floors England
On the last day at Old Trafford in 1961, legendary leggie Richie Benaud went round the wicket to bowl a famous spell that saw him claim 5 wickets for 12 against a hapless England. The win saw Australia retain the Ashes.
