Mohali: The opening day of the Ranji Trophy semi-final between Punjab and Karnataka was called off without a ball being bowled due to persistent rain.

The persistent rain did not allow the captains to walk in the middle for the toss.

Even when the rain stopped, the ground conditions was not suitable for play.

If rain does not come down again, the umpires will try to make up for the lost time by having an early start.
