The Indian team selection committe and the team managment, it has been learnt, were not on the same page over Rishabh Pant's inclusion in the team, some reports suggest. Rishabh Pant was called in as 'cover' for Shikhar Dhawan who fractured his thumb and that his put a dampener on the team.

It has emerged that the team management was never keen on any replacement, including Pant, instead hoping for Shikhar Dhawan to get fit for the business end of the tournament.
