Row at IPL game: MCA official accused of high-handedness

The infighting within the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) was out in the open again when a sub-committee member Parvez Chowdhary, who is 'security in-charge' for Indian Premier League-V, accused Shah Alam Shaikh, secretary of Mazgaon Cricket Club of high handedness and rude behaviour during the Mumbai Indians vs Chennai Super Kings match at Wankhede Stadium on May 6.

Listen to this article :

Chowdhary dashed off a letter on May 8 (a copy of which is with MiD DAY) to the MCA secretaries, Nitin Dalal and Dr PV Shetty, complaining about the incident. Chowdhary in his letter accused Alam of using ‘filthy and abusive language’ and also manhandling him. The incident occurred when Alam, accompanied by a friend, objected when they were asked to go through the mandatory security check at Gate No 2 (Vinoo Mankad Gate) whereas Garware Club members did not have to follow the same procedure.

In his letter, Chowdhary accused Alam of high handedness and rude behaviour because of his close association with MCA president Vilasrao Deshmukh. Chowdhary wants an enquiry as to why Alam and his friend were present in the MCA President’s cabin five-six hours before the match where the distribution of quota tickets takes place.
