An FIR has been registered against Royal Challengers Bengaluru pacer Yash Dayal for allegedly sexually exploiting a woman. The police will now record statements of the cricketer and the complainant, a senior official said.

The FIR was registered against Dayal, aged 27, under Section 69 (sexual intercourse by deceitful means, including a false promise of marriage) of the BNS at Indirapuram police station on Sunday, a senior police official said.

The woman, who filed a complaint to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on June 21, said that she was allegedly exploited by the cricketer with whom she was in a relationship for five years. She also said that the cricketer sexually exploited her for the last five years, under the pretext of marriage.

"For the last five years, the complainant was in a relationship with a cricketer. The man emotionally, mentally and physically exploited her by misleading her with the promise of marriage. He introduced the complainant to his family as their daughter-in-law, which made her trust him completely," the complaint stated.

After her complaint on the IGRS portal, the woman shared it on the social media platform X on June 24, and it went viral.

On June 27, she approached the police and gave a handwritten complaint in which she alleged that the cricketer had harassed her physically and mentally. She furnished evidence like mobile calls, chats, screenshots, and video calls to verify the veracity of her complaint. After observing all the facts, an FIR was subsequently lodged under, Deputy Commissioner of Police, told PTI.

The DCP said that legal action would be initiated after the completion of the investigation.

Dayal was part of RCB's historic IPL 2025 title win earlier this month, taking 13 wickets in 15 matches. With this, the Bengaluru-based franchise clinched the title after 17 years. He has represented Uttar Pradesh in all domestic formats and is yet to make his Team India debut.
