Former Pakistan quick Shoaib Akhtar's scheduled book release function has been cancelled without any elaborate reason.

"Shoaib Akhtar's book launch event which was scheduled for tomorrow, 25th September, at the CCI is cancelled due to unavoidable reasons," the organisers said in an e-mail to the media on Saturday.

Former India captain Dilip Vengsarkar was to release the pacer's autobiographyu00a0 Controversially Yours" at the Cricket Club of India (CCI) today.

The cancellation could well have come about due to the backlash after Akhtar slammed Tendulkar in his autobiography. Akhtar, in his book, has claimed that Tendulkar did not have the ability to finish matches.
