India batswoman Smriti Mandhana entered her name in the record books by scoring the joint-fastest T20 half century in women's T20s yesterday.&nbsp;
Playing for Western Storm, Mandhana, the first Indian to feature in England's Twenty20 tournament for women, took just 18 balls to get to her 50 in a rain-hit match against Loughborough Lightning in the ongoing KIA Super League (KSL) at Taunton, England.
She reached her fifty with a six to equal the record set by New Zealand's Sophie Devine, which was set in 2005 against India. Mandhana's whirlwind knock included five fours and four sixes in the six-over-per-side match.
The Mumbai-born star came close to pulling off the fastest fifty in KSL history on her debut, when she was dismissed for a 20-ball 48 against Yorkshire Diamonds in a successful run-chase.
Earlier, in March this year, Mandhana smashed a half-century in 25 balls for India against England to better her own 30-ball 50 record she had set a few days before against Australia. During a one-off Indian Premier League exhibition match this year, Mandhana captained Trailblazers.
Mandhana, 22, has been in fine form this year. She has scored 857 runs with a highest score of 76 in 42 T20Is and 1464 runs in 41 ODIs at an average of 37.53 with a highest score of 135.
