Roger Federer wants to come back at US Open
<a href="https://www.mid-day.com/sports/other-sports/article/roger-federer-hints-at-future-appearances-after-returning-at-us-open-23646801" rel="nofollow">Tennis icon Roger Federer</a> made a nostalgic return to Arthur Ashe Stadium for the US Open 2026 Legends exhibition, defeating Andy Roddick 6-3 in singles before pairing with John McEnroe in doubles. Looking ahead to the future, Federer remarked:
"I hope this isn't my last time on court. John McEnroe is still out there doing what he loves, and that inspires me to believe that maybe someday I'll get another chance to return to this court and play in front of all my fans," Federer said after the match.
Manchester City complete transfer of Ayyoub Bouaddi
Manchester City finalised the signing of 18-year-old Moroccan midfielder <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/sports/football/article/manchester-city-confirm-signing-of-moroccan-midfielder-ayyoub-bouaddi-from-lille-23646811" rel="nofollow">Ayyoub Bouaddi</a> from Lille on a five-year deal extending through 2031. Reacting to the move, Bouaddi stated:
"This is a very special day for me and my family. Manchester City are, for me, the best Club in the world. It's a dream to be here and be able to call myself a City player. I have spent most of my life working hard to become the best player I can be and reach the top of the game."
Sairaj Bahutule suggests Test free-hits for no-balls
India spin bowling coach Sairaj Bahutule addressed the team's overstepping issues during the second Test, lightheartedly suggesting:
"I am no guardian of the rules, but if a free-hit comes, obviously, no-balls will definitely be reduced. No team would want to bowl those no-balls and give that extra ball and give those extra runs."
Sri Lanka fight back to draw against India
Sri Lanka fought back from the jaws of defeat to mount a fight back against India and rescue a draw. Sonal Dinusha scored an unbeaten 133 runs as Sri Lanka batted for two consecutive days against a tiring Indian attack.
India won the series 1-0 after winning the first Test in Galle.
