The Supreme Court gave a ray of hope to cricketers from Bihar, who could not play national level tournaments for the last 17 years, by allowing the Bihar Cricket Association to participate in Ranji Trophy and other championships this year. A bench comprising Chief Justice Dipak Misra and justices A M Khanwilkar and D Y Chandrachud took note of the fact that Bihar has not been allowed to take part in tournaments such as Ranji Trophy for the last so many years. "Bihar shall play the cricket," the bench said and clarified that it was passing the order on its own without considering any argument or application.
