In the Super 8 match of the T20 World Cup 2026 against the West Indies, Team India registered a victory by five wickets at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.

Sanju Samson was the star player as he delivered a match-winning knock for the "Men in Blue". Facing 50 deliveries, the right-handed batsman garnered an unbeaten 97 runs, laced with 12 boundaries and four maximums.

Despite the match-winning knock from Samson, Jasprit Bumrah, when asked about his favourite moment of the game, picked Shivam Dube’s shots and explained the reason behind it.

"The two fours that Dube hit. Nobody will really appreciate that. But the people who really know cricket know that two fours really released the pressure from us. Because sometimes, 9-8 runs in the last over, it can get tricky sometimes," he said.

Dube registered an unbeaten eight runs in four balls, with the help of two boundaries.

Earlier in the first essay of the game, Bumrah returned with the figures of two wickets for 36 runs in four overs. Reflecting on his spell, the pacer said that the aim was to make run-scoring as difficult as possible.

"The wicket was holding up, so we wanted to use our variation. We didn't want to bowl too fast because that was an easy option. Hit our back of length, use our change of pace. So we wanted to make run scoring as difficult as possible. And today was a good day when I got some wickets," said the 32-year-old cricketer.

Following the victory, the "Men in Blue" have sealed their spot in the semi-final of the global showpiece. They will lock horns with England on March 5 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

The title clash of the global showpiece is scheduled to be played on March 8 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
