Kolkata: Former Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) chief curator Prabir Mukherjee passed away on Tuesday night.

The 86-year-old, whose association with CAB began in 1979, was suffering from liver-related issues and was being treated at the BNR Hospital since April.
Mukherjee was cremated at North Kolkata's Kashi Mitra Bhani Ghat crematorium last evening.
Controversial figure His family members yesterday refused an offer from CAB officials to take his body to the Eden Gardens for people to pay their last respects.
It can be recalled that Mukherjee, who had also served as Secretary, told CAB officials that he would never come back to Eden after a bitter experience last year when he was blamed for the washout of the third Twenty20 international between India and South Africa.
Mukherjee was held responsible for not covering the entire ground when it rained before the match.
In 2012, Mukherjee reportedly did not grant India skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni a turning track for the third Test against England at Eden Gardens. Mukherjee went on sick leave to protest against Dhoni's request.
He came back to prepare a grassy wicket which had bounce and India lost the Test by seven wickets. The hosts went on to lose the four-match series 1-2.
Yesterday, some CAB officials visited his Shyambazar residence.
