Speaking ahead of the clash, <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/sports/cricket/article/india-womens-team-are-an-unstoppable-force-hussain-23634765" rel="nofollow">former England cricketer Nasser Hussain</a> heaped praise on Team India's star batswoman Smriti Mandhana. He said that Pakistan would be worried about the left-handed batswoman during the match.
"They're not surprise packages, but both Deepti and Smriti Mandhana have had quiet periods for a little while now. So, it's not a surprise. But come Sunday, I think <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/sports/cricket/article/womens-t20-world-cup-2026-veda-krishnamurthy-heaps-praise-on-smriti-mandhana-ahead-of-marquee-event-23634671" rel="nofollow">Smriti Mandhana</a> will absolutely raise her level. If you ask Pakistan who they would be most worried about at the top of the order, it is Smriti Mandhana. She'll go hard at Pakistan. She may need to rein it in a little," he said on JioStar.
The former cricketer also feels that if <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/sports/cricket/article/god-sent-me-to-do-something-special-shafali-verma-on-her-match-winning-show-23601557" rel="nofollow">Shafali Verma</a> provides the "Women in Blue" with a strong start, then Mandhana may play a little longer at the crease.
"With Shafali, they dovetail pretty well. Shafali is the one who really goes hard, and Smriti sits in her slipstream a little bit. If Shafali can get them off to a flyer, that just means Smriti can settle in for a little longer. If she bats 20 overs, she will either have a hundred or be pretty close to one," said Hussain.
The semi-final 1 of the mega event will be played on June 30 at The Oval in London, followed by the semi-final 2 on July 2 at the same venue.
The title clash of the Women's T20 World Cup 2026 is scheduled to be played on July 5 at the Lord's Cricket Ground in London.
