Scotland suffered heartbreak after being bowled out in the final over to tie with Zimbabwe in the World Cup qualifiers here yesterday. Brad Wheal was out caught behind at the start of the 50th over as Zimbabwe claimed a dramatic tie that sees them finish top of Group B, with Scotland having to settle for second place.
The tourists had looked dead and buried at 173-8 in reply to Zimbabwe's 210, but a ninth-wicket stand of 36 appeared to put them on the brink a sensational win.
However, with two runs needed off seven and two wickets in hand, they lost Mark Watt holing out going for victory in the penultimate over before Wheal fell two balls later.
At Harare, West Indies beat the Netherlands by 54 runs (D/L method) to register their fourth win in a game reduced to 48 overs due to rain. West Indies scored 309-6, thanks to half centuries by Evin Lewis (84), Marlon Samuels (73 not out) and Rovman Powell (52). In reply, the Dutch scored 167-6 in 28.4 overs when the heavens opened up to halt the proceedings, thus awarding the match to West Indies.
In another match, Ireland beat United Arab Emirates by 226 runs (D/L method) to enter the Super Six stage.
