Under the lights at the Brabourne Stadium, Scotland took on a Cricket Club of India (CCI) side yesterday. Having arrived in India a few days ago, the Scots have been training hard ahead of next month&rsquo;s ICC World T20.
"Coming to India has been valuable for us to get that game time we need and get our feet on grass &mdash; experience the conditions and the heat," said coach Grant Bradburn.
While Scotland played a few games in Hong Kong and the UAE recently, the experience in India has been crucial in learning to play spin better. "Playing spin is something we&rsquo;ve worked very hard on over the last year. We know that to compete and win against international teams, we&rsquo;ve got to be very good players of spin," said Bradburn.
Scotland&rsquo;s training sessions and practice games in Pune and Mumbai have been arranged by the Global Cricket School (GCS). Up until yesterday, they had won all three of their practice encounters.
Tough group Scotland are placed in Group &lsquo;B&rsquo; of the World T20 first round along side Zimbabwe, Afghanistan and Hong Kong. A major endeavour this time is to win matches and raise the bar, something they failed to do during the 2015 World Cup Down Under. "We saw the door of victory open, but we weren&rsquo;t quite good enough to go through this time last year. But we&rsquo;ve worked very hard since then and it was easy for me, as coach, as the guys saw where we needed to get to &mdash; to compete and win," said Bradburn.
