Amidst the Asia Cup celebrations that had more than a flake of controversy, former India cricket captain Diana Edulji has called for the Women’s Premier League to have an India mention in its tournament title henceforth. Edulji wants the four-season-old tournament to be known to the world as the Women’s Indian Premier League (WIPL).
“The WPL has lifted the women’s game. Being called WIPL will have an Indianness to it; it’s owned by us. It can then be shown as a complete Indian tournament. Even in the West Indies, it is called the Womens Caribbean Premier League,” Edulji told mid-day on Tuesday.
