Kolkata: It's celebration time in the City of Joy as the Eden Gardens was granted the hosting rights for the high-octane India vs Pakistan ICC World T20 clash on March 19.

A decision to shift the game to Kolkata from Dharamsala was taken due to security concerns. For cricket fans in Kolkata this is viewed as poetic justice after the iconic venue was deprived of the India vs England 2011 ICC World Cup game since they fell short on facilities.
Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) chief and former India captain Sourav Ganguly was delighted for his association and city, but sad for Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association (HPCA) which lost out on hosting the India vs Pakistan game.

"I feel sorry for HPCA because as an administrator now I realise what goes into hosting a match. They have worked very hard,"" said Ganguly, who it is learnt, had informed the Indian cricket board and the International Cricket Council that Kolkata would be willing to host the tie in an emergency.
"This is an accident which has happened. It has caused inconvenience to the people of Dharamsala. We had lost a match in 2011 as well," Ganguly said. It is learnt that work on the printing of tickets started as soon as it was confirmed that Eden Gardens would host the India vs Pakistan game and the CAB officials were confident of the ground being in perfect condition including the improved drainage facilities.
