Former India captain Kapil Dev has hailed New Zealand for their splendid win over India in the ICC World T20 opener at Nagpur on Tuesday. He also opined that there will be a lot spoken about the wicket, but it was the same for both teams.

"Without exception they (India) indulged in some avoidable strokeplay and allowed New Zealand to make a match of it. I know there will be lot of talk about the wicket and rightly so. But then the surface was the same for both the teams and I don't have to tell you who applied better. Once again we saw how Indians can be susceptible against spinners. Once again, India failed to beat New Zealand in a T20 match," Kapil wrote in his syndicated column which appeared in mid-day on Wednesday.
"New Zealand playing three spinners was an indication of their correct reading of the wicket. An off-spinner launching the match was in keeping with the trend in this format in recent times &ndash; make the batsmen think and innovate," wrote Kapil.

India's loss notwithstanding, Kapil pulled out his praise brush for captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni, who he felt, handled his bowlers well.
"He (Dhoni) created early pressure and did not relent at any point. What impressed me most in the Indian camp was the commanding show by Jasprit Bumrah. He bowled the block-hole ball repeatedly and it helped the home team when Suresh Raina bowled with intelligence," wrote Kapil.
